Tough to do business

THE Bahamas is very well known for how hard it is to do business especially with government - flying to New York this week I sat next to two investors and after an hour conversation all I can say - nuttin change from May 10th.

Slow post

Re: MAIL DELIVERED BY PONY EXPRESS?

Cultural development and The Bahamas

I have read the 58-page report on Bahamas Cultural Development by the talented young Ian Poitier that is being attacked from many quarters including the present Minister of Tourism, on grounds of excessive cost – either $400,000, or “over $1m” , depending on what you read.

BJ Nottage’s Sporting Legacy

The Bahamas participated in its first Carifta Games in Trinidad in May of 1973, two months prior to independence.

Yes or no on Baha Mar?

I watched Prime Minister Minnis respond to the media’s questions, in the chamber of Parliament, and honestly was shocked at how he responded to their questions - as if it was the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary, who caused the natural question anyway. Total misrepresentation.

A vote for a shuffle on Bank Lane

AFTER Attorney General Carl Bethel stated that there was nothing said by any FNM MP during the budget debate that raised criminal concerns, with respect to the PLP government’s handling of public funds, smug PLPs have bragged that the FNM “They Gern to Jail” campaign has fallen flat on its face.

Farewell to Dr Bernard Nottage

The sun has finally set on an era, an icon, an athlete extraordinaire, a physician par excellence, a politician of impeccable character and a statesman in the highest order.

Claims of cutting electric cost

LISTENING to parliamentary Channel proceedings of today…MP for Cat Island it continues to amaze me that he still contends that the PLP Government reduced the cost of electricity by 40%!

Bad advice for Sarkis on Baha Mar

I have no idea who are the lawyers for Sarkis Izmirlian but whoever they are it is clear, in my view, that they are giving him potentially bogus legal advice as it relates to the possible claw back of Baha Mar.

Time to cut our losses

POPEYE’S Ball, Nassau…Does it make money?

Christie: Hold him to account

THE FNM government met a $400m deficit in place, despite former PLP Cabinet Minister Michael Halkitis’ rave review of the economy under his stewardship at the PLP convention earlier in the year.

Life in the system?

It would appear that someone has flogged some life into the dying postal service.

Postal service failures

Please forgive my persistence in bringing to the attention of the public (in the hope that some positive result might occur) the complete and utter inefficiency of our postal service.

PURCHASER FOR OUR LUCAYA Thanks for publishing the letter from a W. Thompson.

Threatening PM should be a felony

ACCORDING to Wikipedia, threatening the president of the United States is a Class E Felony under United States Code Title 18, Section 871.

To those who cannot see

I WAS interested to read the letter from JB, June 23rd, on the matter of the party faithful. There are basically two forms of government, Conservative, and the many titles of the others under one umbrella, Liberal, Socialist, Democratic, Labour etc.

Political Deceit and Plunder

AS a lifelong supporter of the now defunct and badly demoralised Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) I profusely apologise to the good people of our wonderful nation for being a co-conspirator with that party and its then leadership cadre in selling a patently bogus agenda back in 2012. The PLP as I used to know it is no more and started to vanish in the last year of The Gold Rush Administration. The startling revelations made by the Hon Doctor Hubert A Minnis (FNM-Killarney), our Prime Minister, during his budget contribution, brought down the scales from my eyes. I was once politically blind......now I am able to see clearly, again.

PLP support

EVEN though the election is over and the FNM are still trying to get settled into power, I continue to be amazed at the number of people who supported the PLP in the last election.

Decay in infrastructure affects Baha Mar and all our islands

My ongoing experiences with inadequate drinking water here on Eleuthera dovetails with new criticisms about the air conditioning at Baha Mar, and the potential effects of smoke from the nearby smouldering New Providence landfill on tourists.

Help the animals

IT is with great concern and frustration that I write this letter. I am an individual who believes in helping humans and animals. Today, however, I am focusing on the plight of stray animals on this island. I do what I can to assist dogs I come across daily. I give them food and water and if I notice an infection I purchase antibiotics to eradicate the minor problem. I see some dogs very seldom and there are others I feed daily.

Who authorised the payments?

Since May 10th, 2017, and especially after the Budget Speech, we have constantly listened to a litany of how there were some questionable and extraordinary spending, at almost all the Ministries. However, one thing that has not been said is - who authorised the payments?

Don’t kill with taxes

It must indeed be The People’s Time if one looks at Tribune242.com Latest Business Headlines.

Exposing the lies of the FNM

One by one, the lies, mischaracterisations and false narratives that helped (with dollops of foreign money) the FNM to sweep to power, are being exposed, fizzling or simply benefitting from a new and unprecedented policy of Prime Ministerial aloofness.
